Perched at the end of Lamington National Park Road in the Green Mountains, O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat has welcomed visitors since 1926. The free Tree Top Walk suspends guests on nine bridges up to 16 metres above the forest floor, with a viewing deck 30 metres high inside an ancient fig. Beyond the walk, the retreat offers guided bird feeding, wildlife encounters, and hundreds of kilometres of hiking trails through World Heritage rainforest.

The Tree Top Walk is the signature drawcard, an 800-metre return circuit linking suspension bridges through the high-altitude subtropical rainforest of the McPherson Range. Hand-feeding lorikeets from the deck each morning has become a beloved ritual, with dozens of parrots landing on outstretched arms. The experience is free and open every day.

Beyond the walk, day visitors can join guided nature tours, try the spa, or dine at the onsite restaurant. Accommodation ranges from heritage guesthouse rooms to self-contained villas. The surrounding Lamington National Park holds one of the largest stands of subtropical rainforest in the world and forms part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage area.

The drive up Lamington National Park Road from Canungra is itself spectacular, a winding sealed road through farmland that rises sharply into misty forest. Allow at least 90 minutes from Brisbane or the Gold Coast.
