SkyPoint Observation Deck
Gold Coast from the top
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
SkyPoint Observation Deck occupies levels 77 and 78 of the Q1 building in Surfers Paradise, sitting 230 metres above sea level and offering 360-degree views stretching from Brisbane in the north to Byron Bay in the south, across the Pacific Ocean to the east and into the Gold Coast hinterland to the west. It is Australia's only beachside observation deck and doubles as a high-altitude lounge bar by night.
The express lift covers 77 floors in just 43 seconds, delivering visitors to an airy two-level space that accommodates up to 400 guests at a time. The lower level houses a museum, weather station and theatrette explaining the Gold Coast's history and ecology, while the upper level opens directly onto sweeping panoramic views framed by floor-to-ceiling glass. On a clear day, the curvature of the coastline from the Spit all the way to Coolangatta is fully visible.
By evening, SkyPoint transforms into a sleek cocktail bar where drinks and sharing platters are served against a backdrop of the glittering city skyline. Sunrise and sunset sessions are popular with couples and photographers, while the SkyPoint Climb, a separate ticketed experience, takes small groups up the external spine of the Q1 building to the very summit, 270 metres above the ground.
Fixed-date tickets offer the best value. The deck is located at the corner of Clifford Street and Surfers Paradise Boulevard, within easy walking distance of the beach, Cavill Avenue shopping and the broader Surfers Paradise restaurant and entertainment strip.
