Hartley's Crocodile Adventures
Crocodiles, cassowaries and more
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
Located on the Captain Cook Highway between Cairns and Port Douglas, Hartley's Crocodile Adventures is built around a natural lagoon populated by saltwater crocodiles. Daily lagoon boat cruises bring visitors close to crocodiles in a naturalistic setting, while keeper presentations cover crocodiles, snakes, cassowaries and a variety of other Australian wildlife. It remains one of Far North Queensland's most popular wildlife parks.
The lagoon cruise is included in the general admission price and runs multiple times each day. Crocodile feeding demonstrations and snake shows are scheduled throughout the day, making it easy to build an itinerary that catches several presentations during a single visit.
Beyond crocodiles, the park houses cassowaries, tree kangaroos, freshwater crocodiles, pythons and a range of rainforest birds. The grounds are set within a natural paperbark wetland and rainforest fringe, giving it a more immersive feel than a traditional zoo layout.
Premium encounters, including handling a baby crocodile or a behind-the-scenes reptile experience, can be booked on arrival for an additional fee. The park is conveniently positioned for day-trippers from both Cairns and Port Douglas.
