Perched above Burnie with sweeping views across the Emu Valley, Hellyers Road Distillery has been crafting Tasmanian single malt whisky since the late 1990s and is now Australia's most-awarded distillery at the World Whiskies Awards 2024, 2025, and 2026. The cellar door welcomes visitors daily for tastings, whisky flights, and a guided walk through the working distillery. A signature experience lets guests taste aged casks and hand-bottle their own 500 mL single malt to take home.

Hellyers Road has built its reputation on the cool, clean water and pure Tasmanian air that shape every drop of spirit produced on site. The distillery holds stocks of rare aged whisky - some casks exceeding 22 years - which visitors can sample in exclusive cask-tasting sessions booked in advance. The on-site cream liqueur, made from the distillery's own whisky, has been recognised as the world's best in its category.

The cellar door experience is designed for whisky newcomers and seasoned connoisseurs alike. Guided Whisky Walk tours run for around 45 minutes and include a nip of whisky; an upgrade to taste the 20-plus-year-old aged expressions is available for a small additional fee. The Distillers' Choice experience allows guests to select a cask, taste direct from the barrel, and bottle their own whisky complete with a hand-wax seal - a genuinely memorable souvenir of the North-West Coast.
