Carved by the Mossman River through billion-year-old granite boulders on the edge of the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest, Mossman Gorge is one of Queensland's most spectacular natural sites. Located just 20 minutes south of Port Douglas, the gorge offers swimming in clear green pools, self-guided rainforest walks, and Indigenous Ngadiku Dreamtime guided experiences led by the local Kuku Yalanji community.

The Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre serves as the gateway to the gorge, housing a cafe, art gallery, and the booking point for both the shuttle bus and guided cultural walks. A shuttle bus runs regularly from 8am and is the recommended way to reach the gorge itself, as the narrow road lacks pedestrian footpaths.

From the shuttle terminus, a short trail leads to a swing bridge over the river and several large natural swimming holes where the water runs clear and cool year-round. The surrounding rainforest is dense and ancient, draped in ferns and mosses, with the sounds of the river and tropical birds filling the air. Interpretive signs explain the ecology and the Kuku Yalanji connections to country.

The Ngadiku Dreamtime Walk is a guided tour led by Kuku Yalanji community members and covers traditional plant uses, spiritual connection to the land, and bush food knowledge. It is the most thorough way to understand the cultural depth of the site beyond the natural scenery alone.
