Perched at the westernmost tip of Phillip Island, the Nobbies is a dramatic headland of wave-sculpted rock stacks, blowhole, and windswept coastal heath. Free to visit year-round, it offers one of the most spectacular stretches of clifftop boardwalk in Victoria, with panoramic views across Bass Strait to Seal Rocks, home to one of the largest Australian fur seal colonies in the world.

The boardwalk network threads along the cliff edge above crashing surf, passing interpretive signs about the local wildlife and geology. On calm days the roar of the distant seal colony drifts across the water, and binoculars will reveal thousands of seals hauled out on the rocky islets of Seal Rocks, roughly 2 kilometres offshore.

The headland is also a productive wildlife watching spot for little penguins, which can sometimes be seen sheltering under the boardwalk planks, as well as Australian gannets, crested terns, and migrating humpback whales between June and September. The blowhole is active after heavy swells and can shoot seawater several metres into the air.

Sunrise and sunset visits are particularly rewarding, with the low light casting long shadows across the rock formations and lighting up the ocean in vivid orange. The car park is free and no booking is required, making the Nobbies an easy half-hour stop on any Phillip Island itinerary.
