Whisky Bay
Sheltered granite-framed escape

Whisky Bay is a secluded, 200-metre crescent of golden sand tucked among the granite headlands of Wilsons Promontory. An easy 400-metre walk from the carpark leads through a creek-line and over sand dunes to reach this sheltered beach, making it accessible for families and visitors of all fitness levels. Kangaroos and colourful parrots are regular company along the way.
Massive granite boulders, characteristic of the Prom's coastline, frame both ends of the beach and create a sense of enclosure that makes Whisky Bay feel far removed from the outside world. The wide, shallow gradient of the sand and the relatively sheltered aspect give the water a calmer character than many of the Prom's exposed ocean beaches, though the beach remains unpatrolled.
Swimming is possible on calm days but visitors should be aware that rips, strong currents, and large unexpected waves can occur. There are no lifesaving services and conditions can change quickly. Toilets are available at the carpark.
Whisky Bay sits close to Picnic Bay and is connected to Tidal River by the Three Bays Track, which makes it a popular stop on a longer coastal walk. The short access trail means it is worth a visit even if you only have an hour to spare at the Prom.
