Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas
Breakfast with koalas and crocs
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
Wildlife Habitat is Port Douglas's flagship wildlife park, home to more than 180 native species across four distinct habitat zones: wetlands, rainforest, savannah, and nocturnal. The park offers a rare chance to hand-feed kangaroos, watch saltwater crocodiles up close, hold a koala, and observe cassowaries in a free-ranging tropical setting without leaving the edge of town.
Set on Port Douglas Road just south of the township, the park covers several hectares of landscaped native habitat. Visitors can wander freely through walk-through aviaries packed with tropical birds, observe tree-kangaroos in lush rainforest enclosures, and watch keeper presentations throughout the day. The wetlands zone is particularly impressive, with boardwalks threading past billabongs shared by crocodiles, freshwater turtles, and waterbirds.
Breakfast with the Birds is the park's most popular experience, running from 8am each morning with table service in the aviary and native wildlife freely moving between guests. The cafe operates until early afternoon and sources food locally, with a licensed bar.
Admission includes a five-day re-entry pass, meaning visitors can return multiple times across their stay without paying again. Wheelchair hire is free and most areas are fully accessible.
