Brisbane Festival
Three weeks of arts, music, theatre and public spectacle across Brisbane in September.
Brisbane Festival runs for three weeks in September with a programme of theatre, circus, music and outdoor public art across the city.
Brisbane Festival has run in its current form since 2009 and takes over the Queensland capital for three weeks in early to mid-September. The programme includes international and Australian theatre, circus, music, cabaret and visual art, with venues spread across the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, the Brisbane Powerhouse, the Gallery of Modern Art and outdoor sites on the Brisbane River.
The standout outdoor event every year is Sunsuper Riverfire, a massive fireworks display launched from bridges, buildings and boats along the Brisbane River on the final Saturday night of the festival. Riverfire draws crowds of around 500,000 to the river banks and is one of the largest fireworks events in the southern hemisphere.
