Five days of blues, roots, folk and world music at a purpose-built festival site north of Byron Bay. Bluesfest has run since 1990 and attracts internationally significant headliners every year.
Byron Bay Bluesfest runs for five days over the Easter long weekend (roughly late March to mid-April depending on when Easter falls) at Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm, about 10 kilometres north of Byron Bay. The festival has run since 1990 and is the largest blues and roots music festival in Australia.
Headliners over the years have included Bob Dylan, Crowded House, Buddy Guy, Jack Johnson, Paul Simon, B.B. King and Santana. The programme runs across six stages simultaneously from noon until midnight each day, and camping is available on the festival grounds.
Bluesfest overlaps with the Easter school holidays, which makes Byron Bay one of the most crowded small towns in the country for that week. Accommodation anywhere in the area needs to be booked at least six months ahead.
