Pick strawberries, taste the hills

Beerenberg Farm has been cultivating the fertile soils of the Adelaide Hills since the 1830s, and today it is one of South Australia's most beloved agritourism destinations. The farm shop stocks over 100 house-made jams, chutneys, sauces, honeys, and condiments, many available nowhere else, and during the strawberry season (November to April) visitors can head into the fields to pick their own fruit at their own pace. Entry to the farm shop is free.
Run by the Paech family across multiple generations, Beerenberg is as much a working farm as a visitor experience. The sprawling property on Mount Barker Road produces strawberries, raspberries, and other soft fruits, and the on-site processing kitchen turns the harvest into the award-winning preserves that line supermarket shelves across Australia. The farm shop, however, stocks exclusive flavours, such as rhubarb and rose jam or smoky chipotle sauce, that never leave the property.
Strawberry picking runs from roughly November through April, weather and crop permitting. Patch entry costs $5 per adult (children 13 and under free), and the strawberries you pick are weighed and sold by the kilogram. The farm shop is open year-round, seven days a week from 9am to 5pm (closed Christmas Day only), making it a reliable stop in any season. Free on-site parking and public bus access from Adelaide are both available.
