Bungonia National Park lies just 30 minutes east of Goulburn and is widely regarded as the adventure capital of the Southern Tablelands. The park is home to one of the deepest river gorges in New South Wales, a wild limestone cave system of around 200 caves, and a network of walks ranging from a gentle stroll to the lookdowns to a full day descent into Bungonia Gorge. Canyoning, abseiling, rock climbing and guided gorge treks are all on offer for those who want to push further.

The main walking tracks cater to varying fitness levels. The Green Track and the Lookdown provide accessible views across the gorge with minimal effort, while the Red Track descends steeply into the gorge itself and passes through the dramatic Bungonia Slot Canyon - a narrow limestone passage carved by Bungonia Creek. Guided adventure treks are also available through NSW National Parks for those wanting expert leadership on the more technical routes. Visitors should check water levels before entering the gorge after rainfall.

Facilities at the park include picnic areas, barbecues, toilets and showers, with parking at Adams Lookout, Bungonia Campground and the De Kerrilleau Picnic Area. Vehicle entry costs $8 per day, payable at the ticket machine at the park office. No wood fires or pets are permitted. The park office is staffed on some weekends and peak holiday periods; for current conditions contact the Fitzroy Falls Visitor Centre on (02) 4887 8270.
