Coriole Vineyards
Old vines, olive groves, Italian soul
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
Coriole is a McLaren Vale original, planted in 1967 and still farmed by the Lloyd family. Famous for pioneering Sangiovese and Fiano in Australia, this stone-walled estate blends Italian grape varieties with the region's deep-rooted Shiraz tradition. The intimate ironstone cellar door sits amid century-old olive groves and garden terraces that feel a world away from the city.
Walk-in tastings are welcomed for groups of up to five people, with a fee waived on any bottle purchase. The small cellar door has an unhurried, honest character, knowledgeable staff pour through a tight range of estate wines including the benchmark Lloyd Reserve Shiraz, the fragrant Fiano, and one of Australia's best Sangioveses.
The restaurant serves produce-driven food sourced from the estate's kitchen garden and nearby farms. The surrounding grounds include ancient olive trees from which Coriole presses its own extra-virgin olive oil, making this as much a food producer as a winery. It is a quietly exceptional stop for those who want depth over spectacle.
