Rising 34 metres above the low headland at the western edge of Geraldton, the red-and-white striped Point Moore Lighthouse has guided ships safely into port since 1878. Built as the first all-steel lighthouse tower on the Australian mainland, it remains an operational navigational aid and one of the most photographed landmarks on the Coral Coast.

The lighthouse was engineered in the Victorian era from prefabricated steel sections, a technology novel enough at the time to make Point Moore a benchmark for future Australian lighthouse construction. Its bold candy-stripe paintwork makes it immediately distinctive against the blue Indian Ocean sky and has become synonymous with Geraldton's identity.

The tower interior is not open to the public, but the surrounding grounds are freely accessible at all times. Visitors can walk the base of the structure, read interpretive plaques detailing its history and engineering, and enjoy unobstructed ocean views across Champion Bay. A small park nearby provides picnic facilities, barbecues, and toilets.

The site sits roughly seven minutes' drive from central Geraldton via Willcock Drive. No entry fee applies and no booking is needed.
