SkyHigh Mount Dandenong
Melbourne's rooftop panorama
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
Perched 633 metres above sea level at the summit of Mount Dandenong, SkyHigh offers one of the most spectacular views across the Melbourne skyline and beyond. The grounds include a maze, landscaped gardens, forest walking trails, and a hillside bistro and restaurant. It is a favourite destination for day-trippers, families, and couples seeking a dramatic sunset over the city.
Visitors arrive via winding mountain roads to find manicured gardens, a hedge maze, giant landmark sculptures, and gas barbecue picnic areas surrounded by cool-climate forest. The SkyHigh Maze is a popular drawcard for families, while the lookout deck provides an unobstructed view across Port Phillip Bay and the CBD skyline on a clear day. Twilight visits are particularly popular for the city lights.
The on-site bistro opens from mid-morning daily, serving coffee, light meals, and kiosk items, with a full lunch menu from late morning. The restaurant opens for dinner from Monday to Saturday and is well regarded for its views as much as its food. Bookings are recommended for evening dining.
Entry to the grounds requires a parking fee rather than a gate admission charge. Visitors arriving on foot, bicycle, or by bus avoid the parking cost entirely. The grounds are open seven days a week with extended hours on Friday and Saturday evenings.
