Formerly known as the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery, The Chocolateries on Old Healesville Road is a favourite stop for visitors of all ages. Acres of gardens surround a purpose-built factory and shop where master chocolatiers craft truffles, pralines and bars on site, while a long gelato bar serves up flavours made from local Yarra Valley dairy.
The estate opened in 2012 and quickly became one of the most visited food destinations in regional Victoria. The factory viewing window lets visitors watch chocolate being tempered and moulded, and frequent tastings at the retail counter mean few people leave empty-handed. The broad veranda and garden picnic lawns make it a relaxed stop even on busy weekends.
The cafe serves chocolate-laced hot drinks, sundaes, waffles and light meals throughout the day. A dedicated chocolate-making class program runs on selected days for adults and children. The site sits at the corner of Melba Highway and Old Healesville Road, making it a natural first or last stop on a Yarra Valley drive.
