Dangar Falls
Thirty-metre plunge with riverside swimming
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
Dangar Falls is a 30-metre waterfall set among the farmland and forest fringe just two kilometres north of Dorrigo town centre. The falls drop in a single powerful column into a clear rock pool at the base, and a walking trail leads from the viewing platform down to the river bank where swimming is permitted.
The site is well equipped for a relaxed visit, with a car park, picnic tables, a children's playground and a paved labyrinth adjacent to the viewing platform. Accessible parking spaces and elevated viewing rails mean the falls can be enjoyed by visitors with mobility requirements without needing to take the path to the base. A 2.1-kilometre footpath connects the falls to Dorrigo's main street, making it possible to walk from town rather than drive.
Dangar Falls is often described as one of the most photogenic easily accessible waterfalls on the NSW North Coast, particularly after rain when the volume is at its peak. The surrounding landscape is a patchwork of dairy pasture and remnant subtropical rainforest typical of the Dorrigo hinterland, giving the falls a distinctive setting quite unlike the enclosed gorge environments found deeper in the national park. Sunrise visits offer soft light on the falls and a good chance of seeing wallabies in the adjacent paddocks.
