Jacob's Creek Visitor Centre
Iconic wines on the creek
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
Jacob's Creek is one of Australia's most recognised wine brands, and its Visitor Centre on the banks of the original creek in Rowland Flat brings that heritage to life. The striking contemporary building overlooks manicured lawns, the historic creek, and Barossa ranges beyond, offering daily tasting experiences, a full-service restaurant, and a chance to understand the story behind the label.
The Visitor Centre opened in 1997 and was redesigned to create a flagship destination that goes well beyond a standard cellar door. The building sits on a ridge above the creek where Johann Gramp planted the Barossa's first commercial vineyard in 1847, and interpretive displays inside trace the winery's history from that founding moment to the global brand it is today.
Tasting experiences are structured around flights that showcase the range from the everyday Classic series through to the higher-tier Reserve and Steingarten labels. The on-site restaurant offers Barossa-focused seasonal menus, and the picnic lawn, with views across the vines to the eastern ranges, is a popular spot for a relaxed afternoon.
Walk-in tastings are available for groups of six or fewer from 10am daily. The Double Barrel experience digs deeper into oak-aged reds, while the Picnic Perfect package pairs a bottle with a regional produce basket on the lawns.
