Leura Cascades
Fern-lined falls and rainforest

Tucked into a moist gully between Leura and Katoomba, Leura Cascades is a series of gentle waterfalls tumbling through a lush fern bower within Blue Mountains National Park. A short walking circuit from the picnic area loops past rocky creek crossings, dense tree ferns and sandstone walls draped in moss, offering a cool retreat at any time of year.
The Leura Cascades Fern Bower circuit starts from the picnic area on Cliff Drive, accessed via the Leura town centre. The track descends stone steps alongside Leura Falls Creek and winds through dense subtropical understorey before climbing back to the clifftop. The full circuit is around three kilometres and is rated moderate, with some uneven terrain and stairs.
Facilities at the picnic area include free parking, picnic tables and barbecue areas, making it a popular spot for family outings. The cascades flow year-round but are at their most impressive after rain, when the creek swells and the surrounding bush fills with the sound of running water. No entry fee is charged to visit the reserve or walk the track.
