The Margaret River Chocolate Company
Free tastings, pure indulgence
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
The Margaret River Chocolate Company at Metricup has been making handcrafted couverture chocolate since 1991 using premium Belgian couverture. Entry is free, tastings are complimentary, and the factory floor viewing area lets visitors watch the chocolate-making process up close. The on-site cafe serves chocolate drinks, desserts, and light meals.
Set among tall trees off Harmans Mill Road, the factory is part chocolate shop, part destination experience. Rows of truffles, bark slabs, pralines, and seasonal gift boxes fill the display cases, and staff at the tasting counter offer generous samples across the full range, from dark single-origin blocks to white chocolate and liqueur-laced varieties.
The cafe is a favourite stop for families, couples, and tour groups travelling the Caves Road wine trail. Hot chocolate, chocolate fondue, and ice-cream flights share the menu with savoury options, and the covered outdoor terrace is a relaxed spot when the weather is fine.
The company also operates a Swan Valley factory and a Perth store, but the Metricup site is the original and largest, with the full factory viewing experience and the widest product range. It is located just a short drive from Vasse Felix and Voyager Estate.
