Ricardoes is a family-run hydroponic farm at Blackmans Point, about 10 minutes north of Port Macquarie, where visitors can pick their own strawberries and tomatoes every day of the year regardless of the season or weather. The covered greenhouses, a friendly farm cafe celebrated for its fresh-baked scones, and free guided tours make this a warm and unpretentious stop for food lovers and families alike.
The farm has grown strawberries and tomatoes hydroponically in fully covered greenhouses for decades, using natural pest management rather than heavy chemical sprays. Because the growing environment is protected, picking is available year-round, making Ricardoes reliably enjoyable even on overcast or rainy days when outdoor attractions can disappoint. Visitors pay by weight for the fruit they harvest.
Free farm tours run on weekdays, taking small groups through the greenhouses to explain the hydroponic growing systems and pest management practices. The farm shop stocks a wide range of fresh produce, jams, sauces and local gifts, and the cafe serves hot food until mid-afternoon alongside coffee and scones all day.
Entry to the farm and participation in the tour are both free, with no booking required. Dogs on leads are welcome in the outdoor areas. The farm is a short, straightforward drive from Port Macquarie, with free sealed parking on site.
