Territory Wildlife Park
Native wildlife in natural bushland
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
Set on 400 hectares of natural bush about 50 kilometres south of Darwin near Berry Springs, Territory Wildlife Park immerses visitors in the landscapes and wildlife of the Top End without fences or artificial backdrops. Native fauna from the Northern Territory's woodland, wetland, and monsoon vine forest habitats live in large, naturalistic enclosures, and daily keeper presentations make the animals approachable and memorable.
The walk-through aviary is one of the highlights, a free-flight dome housing wedge-tailed eagles, brolgas, and dozens of other native bird species that visitors walk among on elevated boardwalks. The freshwater aquarium traces the aquatic life of a Top End river from headwaters to estuary, showcasing barramundi, archer fish, saratoga, and freshwater crocodiles. A separate nocturnal house reveals the animals, including quolls, bilbies, and various bats, that come alive after dark.
Additional experiences include hawk walks, where trained birds of prey fly free in demonstration sessions, and a pelican breakfast each morning. The monsoon vine forest walk is particularly rewarding during the dry season when the contrast between the shaded, humid forest and the open savanna is most pronounced. A free internal shuttle bus circles the park for visitors who prefer not to walk the full circuit.
The park is closed on Christmas Day and operates on reduced hours during the wet season. Allow at least four hours for a full visit.
