Raptor Domain
Free-flight birds of prey
schedule 1 min read / Updated Jun 2026
Raptor Domain at Seal Bay delivers South Australia's only free-flight birds of prey presentation, sending eagles, kites, owls, and kookaburras soaring over an outdoor amphitheatre twice daily. The show blends breathtaking aerial displays with conservation education, making it a standout experience for families and wildlife enthusiasts alike.
The headline birds of prey presentation runs at 11:30am and 2:30pm, featuring barn owls, black kites, wedge-tailed eagles, cockatoos, and kookaburras in a naturalistic bush setting. The presenters weave conservation stories and natural history into the show, explaining each species' role in the Australian ecosystem. A separate reptile presentation at 1pm covers snakes, lizards, and freshwater turtles native to Kangaroo Island.
Raptor Domain shares its address with Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park at South Coast Road, making the two attractions easy to combine in a single visit. Gates open at 11am daily, with extended 10:30am access during South Australian school holidays. Combo tickets covering both the birds of prey and reptile shows are available at a discounted rate.
The outdoor setting means shows operate in most weather conditions, though severe storms may cause cancellations. Seating is tiered so all ages get a clear view, and the presenters regularly invite children to the front for closer interaction with select birds.
