Trentham Falls
Central Victoria's tallest waterfall

Plunging more than 32 metres down a basalt cliff into a deep ravine, Trentham Falls is the highest single-drop waterfall in Central Victoria and one of the most dramatic natural sights in the Daylesford and Macedon Ranges region. Located within the Coliban River Scenic Reserve just outside the town of Trentham, the falls are free to visit and accessible year-round via short walking tracks from the car park.
The reserve surrounding the falls protects over 80 indigenous plant species and large old-growth eucalypts that provide habitat for a range of native birds and nocturnal mammals. Two walking paths lead from the car park to viewing platforms above the gorge, a graded gravel path and a stepped route, though neither is fully accessible due to some steep sections.
The falls are most powerful and spectacular during winter and spring when rainfall is higher and the Coliban River runs strongly. Picnic tables, fire pits, and benches are provided in the reserve; visitors must bring their own firewood. Dogs are welcome on a lead.
Swimming, camping, cycling, and horse riding are not permitted within the reserve. Visitors must stay on formed tracks and behind barriers near the cliff edge, as the volcanic rock is unstable. Trentham township is a short drive away and worth combining with a visit for its artisan food and drink scene.
