Uluru Camel Tours is an award-winning, owner-operated business based at one of the largest working camel farms in the Southern Hemisphere, home to around 50 camels. Tours depart from the farm at Yulara and ride out into open desert with Uluru and Kata Tjuta as the backdrop. The hour-long sunrise and sunset experiences are the signature offerings, each finishing with freshly baked damper and a drink.

The Sunrise Camel Experience departs before first light and returns after about two and a half hours, riding out to the crest of a red sand dune to watch the sky behind Uluru turn from black to gold. A light breakfast of beer bread damper, jam, tea and coffee is included. The Sunset Camel Experience follows the same format in reverse, riding out as the heat fades and watching Uluru change colour as the sun drops, with bush foods and beverages served at the dune.

A shorter Express Camel Experience runs through the day year-round. All tours include complimentary transfers from Yulara accommodation. The minimum age for riding is five years. The farm is open daily and reservations are handled by phone or email through the operator directly.

Camels were introduced to central Australia in the 1800s to carry supplies across the outback and have since become part of the regional landscape. The farm's animals are all domesticated and well handled. Bookings are strongly advised, especially for sunrise and sunset tours in peak season from April to September.
